Deventer, City on the IJssel

Go on a journey through time in Museum De Waag and experience the rich history of one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands. The exhibition ‘Deventer, City on the IJssel’ presents major events in the town’s history. From the moment that the missionary Lebuinus founded a church on the banks of the river IJssel through to the industrial growth of Deventer in the 19th and 20th centuries. Meet inspiring residents who, each in their own way, have contributed to the town’s development. A special theme is the river IJssel, a theme which runs through the city’s development. You can also admire many finds from the river.
