Welcome to Museum De Waag

Museum De Waag is Deventer's historical museum. From the oldest weighing house in the Netherlands, we tell you about the urban history of the Hanseatic city of Deventer.

In the museum, you will learn all about the city's genesis, the Hanseatic period with its trade and markets and the industries of silversmiths and the famous bakers.

But you will also discover a rich collection of art from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, including works by Gerard ter Borch II and Hendrick ter Brugghen. From later times, we present works by Cornelis Springer and the Deventer-born master forger Han van Meegeren.
